Old friends, new talks

This year has been as busy as ever with bookings for my talks, but a lovely new feature has been invitations to go back to groups I've talked to before ...

It makes sense that people who enjoyed, say, 'Solving the Nightingale Shore Murder' might also enjoy 'The Crimes of Dr Gramshaw' - but understandably they want some variety in their speakers and don't want to hear from me too often! But this year, I've had quite a few repeat bookings which are a pleasure to do. It's nice to know the organisers, the size and nature of the group, and how much they like to interact with the speaker and ask questions. It's like meeting old friends with new things to talk about!

So this year I've been back to the Dringhouses Townswomen's Guild, the Haxby Local History Group, and Bishopthorpe Local History Group. Next month I'm off to the beautiful village of Middleham in North Yorkshire to revisit the Ladies in Middleham group. Last year, it was a rainy and chilly evening so I'm hoping this year will be better and I can enjoy a look round the lovely surroundings before my talk in some summer sunshine!
